Spinal Surgical Site Infections & Mortality Rates

Our presenter, Dr. Ron Feise, a practice management consultant and coach with RJF Consulting, said, "Overall, a surgical site infection significantly increases the risk of postoperative mortality. This increased risk is subtle in the first 90 days; however, mortality increases nearly four-fold at 1 year following surgery. Mortality rises to nearly five-fold at 5 years."
